Same evening. Twenty years apart.
On an ordinary evening, a hot water bottle got refilled twice, a pair of pyjamas came out early, and a night out quietly got rescheduled. Nothing dramatic. Just one more evening built around getting comfortable and staying still.
Twenty years later, almost the same evening happened again. Different woman, same house. A daughter this time, not a wife. A different decade, the same hot water bottle, the same rearranged plans, the same evening spent waiting it out on the sofa.
Two people in the same family, living the same routine, twenty years apart. Nothing about it had changed, except how much everything else in the world had.
That's the moment this all started. Not in a lab. In a living room, watching two people we love adapt their evenings around the same outdated tools, generation after generation.
So we decided to actually do something about it.
Watching that same evening repeat itself, twenty years apart, made one thing obvious: comfort during a period hadn't moved forward while everything else had. Wearable technology, precision formulation, thoughtful design, all of it had transformed other parts of daily life. This corner had been left behind.
So we set out to change it. Real chemistry, applied properly, built into something that could move through an ordinary day instead of anchoring someone to a sofa.
That meant solving a genuine formulation problem, not repackaging an old one. It took a rare talent for stabilising difficult compounds, a patented process, and more time than either of us expected.
But it also meant finally having something better to offer the next person in the family who needed it.

We choose ingredients for purity and stability — not novelty alone. Every product is UK/EU cosmetic-compliant, drug free, and made for skin contact.

Thirty years in pharmaceutical formulation, spent solving problems other chemists had set aside. CLEIR began close to home, watching two generations of his own family reach for the same outdated comfort routine.

A creative organic chemist with a rare knack for stabilising the compounds everyone else had given up on. Lee's patented esterification work is what made CBDAe, and CLEIR itself, possible.
